I want to get fit: how to start?

About six years ago, I decided to get fit. My first steps would be to run 30 minutes per day and register for a 10km race (two weeks later).

The next day, I put my shoes on and start running. After about 30 seconds only, I am breathless and my thighs are very sore. I give up… One day later, I agree with myself that I would run two minutes per day instead.

Two weeks later, I ran the 10km race. It was tough but I made it and something *awesome* happened at the finish line: I felt so, so good. It was like a releasing of sweet chocolate throughout my whole body… Such a great memory.

From that day on, I started to run 10km two and eventually three times a week.

Nowadays, I train for 30 minutes each morning, I ran two marathons (my next one is planned for 2017) and several 10&20k, I run twice a week and practice MMA three hours a week.

Take home message: It is not only about getting fit, sport makes you become a better person. Given my experience, I would say that the best way to make it happen is to start slow and stick with it no matter what.
