ReviewGoals_01_2016

“Motivation is what gets you started. Habit is what keeps you going.”

January 2016, time for review and readjustments.
Scratched: I change my plan.
Green, I did it!
Red, failed…

Money:
I’ll easily save 300 euros per month
Except for May because I had several important expenses: a Mountain bike (awesome!), conference in Zürich, travel in Spain, travels in Germany, travels in France, presents for family and friends.
I’ll easily write down all my expenses.
Interesting to do it for a month, I got new ideas for new goals! But, in fact, I kind of know clearly where my money is going.
Health :
I’ll easily drink 3L of water per day
Thank you coffee(2*25cl)&tea(4*40cl).
I’ll easily eat at least a fruit and a vegetable per meal
Breakfast: Apple&banana, lunch: Orange&apple + vegetables, Dinner: Banana + vegetables. I have rarely skipped.
I’ll easily avoid every king of candy at all (except black chocolate)
Well, actually of course I had some, having candies is also a social event sometimes but I definitely control my behavior over this thus I consider it as passed!
I’ll easily eat one fork of spinach and sprouts (I think I hate it but I’m not sure)
I hate a whole plate of spinach and I liked it! Also two sprouts.
Altruism:
Give 10 euros per month to an association
I forgot to look for it.
Be a volunteer for an association on a regular basis
I helped a whole week end for the organisation of an event, but I really felt used by some people, I didn’t really enjoyed. I just registered for something like the red cross (called Die Johanniter). I did one training session, was cool, I’m gonna stick with it. Every Monday from 6.30pm to 10pm + a week end per month.
Mind :
I’ll easily do my morning routine during weekdays:
Wake up at 5am (second ring of the alarm clock)
I did it most of the time. I will now wake up at 6am though because to get 8 hours of sleep, I need to sleep at 9pm and it’s actually too warm to sleep at this time.
     5 min of meditation
     –Smile for a minute
    –Drink water
     –4 x 20 abs
I do way more now.
     Cold shower
This is very useful.
–Statement of the priorities of the day (at least 3 pts)
–What’s awesome in my life (at least 3 pts)
     –Gratitude (at least 3 pts)
I don’t force myself to find 3 points though, sometimes it’s more, usually it’s less. Whatever, it’s cool to do it based on my morning feelings.
I’ll easily do my evening routine* during weekdays:
     –read for 30 minutes
     -update personal diary
I’m gonna change it, it’s boring to update it everyday, I’d rather do that once a week.
     -plan the next day
I usually forgot to do it.
I’ll easily do one sport session without music per month
No way 🙂
Social :
I’ll easily go out for a social event once a week:
International Tuesdays, PhD beer meetings, cinema with colleagues, Chess games, Ice-skating with colleagues, travels with colleagues (Köln, Dusseldorf, Maastricht, Bruges), board games, Chess (Friday), restaurant, trekking
I’ll easily talk to my friends and family once a week.
Many letters, Whatsapp, FB discussion + some came in Aachen to see me!
Energy:
I’ll easily say YES to something that bored me but is useful once a week.
This is actually not a good goal, not specific enough. I always try to say yes to what is useful.
I’ll easily party hard once a month.
Köln, Aachen, Dusseldorf night-clubs, awesome.
Sport :
I’ll easily do my training three times a week.
I did, I even upgraded it. I registered in a MMA club two months ago. Now it’s not about doing my training, it’s about going there 4 to 5 times a week. But I did so far so I consider I passed this goal.
I’ll easily run the marathon of Köln  (oct 2016)
I changed my mind, I don’t want to switch from the MMA training to a running training program. So, I might do a half marathon, but not a whole one.
Creativity :
I’ll easily write one blog article per week.
Well, not really… But this goal is not well stated, it should be time-related not #OfWrittenArticles-related. I consider I passed it.
20 % YOLO :
I’ll easily lie down in a crowded public space for 10 sec
Tough, I’m a bit too proud I guess, I need to work on me for this one.
I’ll easily do 10 push ups in a crowded public space and leave like if nothing happened
Ok, it wasn’t really crowded, but people were present (ok, 3 persons… but still), and I did some pull-ups instead.
I’ll easily take an escalator in the wrong way
I’ll easily sing in a crowded public space
Tough, I feel ridiculous whenever I just think about doing it.
I’ll easily dance in a crowded public space
Kind of a shy dancing but still, I danced in a crowded area!
I’ll easily go to a club and dance all night alone (but won’t stay alone)
I don’t really have the motivation, but I’m starting to really enjoy dancing, it will come hopefully.
Culture :
I’ll easily read a book per month (other than professional) and summarise it on the blog
Fight club, the road, man’s search for meanings, les 120 journees de Sodome, dataclysm.
I’ll easily watch a movie per week and summarise it on the blog.
Way too much, don’t have neither the time nor the willing.
Learning:
I’ll easily attend 2*45min Machine Learning’s classes per working day
I’ll easily attend 2*45min Programming (Python) per working day
I’ll easily study German for 45 min per working day (obj: the A2 level in June 2016)
I’ve been skipping it for the last months.
I’ll easily play chess or read during transportation time
Lately, I’ve been really into music instead, but I’m not gonna be lazy anymore.
I’ll easily spend 3*45min per day focused on my PhD project
